Furever Locks

The Greater Huntsville Humane Society (GHHS), in partnership with HomeTown Lenders of Hazel Green, will be “unleashing” Furever Locks, a symbolic art installation Saturday, February 19th.

All families that have adopted from GHHS prior, are invited to hang a lock on the south fence facing Johnson Rd. Together, the locks will tell the story of adoption through the years in our community. Moving forward, all adopters will be offered the opportunity to hang a lock on their pet’s adoption day.

Marguerite Long, GHHS Volunteer and Community Outreach Coordinator is leading this project. Long exclaims, “I was inspired by the (former) Locks of Love Bridge in Paris, France. I wanted a dedicated space to visually show the Greater Huntsville community the lives that are being saved.”

The locks for the art installation have been predetermined for weight purposes. The locks will be available on-site at GHHS, for a $1 donation (cash only please!) for each lock. Previous adopters that would like to participate but cannot attend this Saturday, locks will be available at the GHHS front desk during scheduled operating hours, Monday-Saturday, 10AM-4PM.
