A special thanks to our partners!
For your furry friends, we will have a Chip-a-Thon to bring awareness to Pet Loss Prevention Month! It will be $15 per pet microchipped. Complete details about the benefits of microchipping your pet and the Chip-A-Thon can be found in this blog post.
Our monthly Gayle Henley Pet Wellness Clinic service day with Dr. Holt, from Rocket City Mobile Vet. The Pet Wellness Clinics offer wellness exams, annual vaccinations, heartworm and flea/tick preventative, and microchipping if needed. $12 wellness exam is required for all pets seen by the doctor. King’s Community Kitchen pet food pantry will also be open Saturday! King’s Community Kitchen provides low-income pet owners with food for their dogs and cats in times of financial difficulty. By giving out donated dog and cat food, we can save lives and keep animals in their own homes. In 2018 alone, with our community’s support, we provided over 35,000 pounds of pet food to needy homes.
For you and your family, we will have the Hippea Camper with plant based foods. The Hippea Camper aims to provide the Rocket City with a healthy, plant-based option. Specializing in Southern comfort foods that are familiar to our history and southerners and presented in a way that will delight and excite vegans and non-vegans alike! All of Hippea Camper’s products align with a health-conscious, Eco-friendly lifestyle, from their ingredients to their supplies. They believe in the health benefits of a plant-based diet and promote it within our community. Our mouths are watering!!
For the cooks in the family, we have the Epicure Fundraiser! Epicure is a program of recipes, meal plans, and spices that makes cooking family favorites fast and simple- in 20 minutes or less. More details will be available this coming Saturday at Community Day.
For the kids, we will have a Kong stuffing party. Who doesn’t love peanut butter?? We know plenty of pups who absolutely love it! Donate a jar of peanut butter, and the kids will be able to choose between fruits, veggies, and peanut butter while they make treats for our pups! We’ll be limiting one Kong toy per child, so be sure to show up early to get in on the party!
For activities to help other people’s pets, we have members of Helping Animals Without Shelters and a Plants-Fur-Paws class. We will be able to educate volunteers and the community on plants that are pet safe. We hope to be able to show the community how to maximize care while fostering or when they don’t have pets on their property.
And as always, we have so many animals looking for their forever home and that are available for adoption. You can adopt your next pet during Community Day.
