Position Summary: Responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operations of the Greater Huntsville Humane Society front desk.

The ideal candidate will create a positive customer experience, meet and/or exceed sales and
revenue goals, as well as develop and support employee, volunteer, and donor engagement
while actively seeking to further the mission of GHHS.

Responsibilities:

  • Business Development

    • Achieve financial objectives

    • Enhance profitability

    • Develop strategies and action plans to attract new customers and increase store traffic

    • Establish donor channels – make Three Tails THE place to donate gently used items

    • Utilize online channels and social media to increase store presence within the community

    • Perform other duties as requested

  • Operations

    • Perform regular data analysis and review regarding sales results

    • Provide monthly sales reporting to CEO

    • Partner with office location, condo association to maintain building structure and develop positive relationships with other condo tenants

    • Create engaging in-store displays

    • Work in partnership with GHHS marketing team members, develop promotional strategies

    • Develop pricing strategies and processes

    • Balance cash drawers

    • Maintain compliance with any legal requirements (such as tax exemptions, inventory control and reporting, team management, and so on)

    • Order and maintain necessary office supplies

    • Oversee and optimize the use of point of sale systems and other store-related technology

    • Address customer and volunteer complaints and perform appropriate service recovery

    • Provide a safe and clean shopping and working environment for customers, employees, and volunteers

    • Oversee continuous store improvement efforts 

  • Team Management

    • Give clear direction

    • Hire new team members (as necessary)

    • Set work schedules

    • Manage team members and volunteers with respect

    • Ensure that team members and volunteers are in compliance with performance expectations

    • Conduct team member performance reviews and corrective actions (as necessary)

    • Coach, motivate, and develop employees

    • Establish a positive work environment for customers, employees, and volunteers

Qualifications:

  • Retail management experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills including office applications
  • Passion for animal welfare, non-profit work, and community involvement
