Position Summary:  

As a Retail Operations Associate, you must be a customer service-oriented professional who is focused on promotional and operational functions.

The ideal candidate will deliver a positive customer experience and positively engage with the public, donors, volunteers, and other GHHS staff as well as actively seek to support the mission of GHHS.

 

Position:           Retail Operations – Manager/Associate

Reports to:       Director of Retail Operations

Compensation Category:  Salary, with benefits       

Pay Range:        $20,000 – $26,000 plus benefits

 

 

Direct Reports 

• None, although you will sometimes direct volunteers

 

Responsibilities:

  • Business Development
    • Support
      • Achieving financial objectives
      • Creating engaging in-store displays
      • Developing business strategies and plans to attract new customers, expand store traffic, and enhance profitability
      • Encouraging donations
    • Store Operations
      • Addressing customer complaints and service recovery
      • Logging and monitoring inventory
      • Performing donation intake
      • Performing purchase and return transactions
      • Supporting online sales
    • Partner with other GHHS staff
    • Follow GHHS policies and procedures

Position Summary:  

 

As the Director of Retail Operations, you must be a customer service-oriented professional who is focused on the successful execution of financial, promotional, and operational aspects of store management.

The ideal candidate will create a positive customer experience, meet and/or exceed sales and revenue goals, and develop and support donor, volunteer, and employee engagement, while actively seeking to further the mission of GHHS.

 

Position:           Director of Retail Operations

Reports to:       CEO

Compensation Category:  Salary, with benefits       

Pay Range:        $28,000 – $30,000 plus benefits

 

 

Direct Reports 

• 1 full-time employee: Retail Manager

• Volunteers (adjunct staff) as needed to successfully run store operations

 

• Vendors who support store operations

 

Responsibilities:

  • Business Development
    • Achieving financial objectives
    • Creating engaging in-store displays
    • Cultivating professional skills and establishes personal networks
    • Developing business strategies and plans to attract new customers, expand store traffic, and enhance profitability
    • Encouraging donations
    • Pricing policies and strategies
    • Promotional strategies
  • Store Operations
    • Addressing customer complaints and service recovery
    • Buying inventory and branded merchandise
    • Compliance with legal requirements such as tax exemptions, etc.
    • Data analysis and review (such as sales results, buying trends, and operations costs)
    • Financial oversight (such as, cash handling and balancing drawer)
    • Managing inventory and relations with vendors
    • Managing and promoting online sales and shipping, where necessary
    • Performing donation intake
    • Performing purchase and return transactions when cash register is unmanned
    • Providing a safe and clean shopping and working environment for employees and volunteers
    • Reporting sales monthly to the CEO who then reports to the board
    • Scheduling of staff and volunteers to allow the Director of Retail Operation to delegate tasks and have a robust team to help
  • Personnel Administration
    • Supervisory responsibilities: Work direction and task delegation
    • Coaching/motivating/developing employees
    • Evaluation/performance reviews for subordinates: corrective actions, and so on, if and where necessary
    • Working with volunteers (including store operations orientation and training)
  • Partner with other GHHS staff such as the Director of Advancement on advertising strategies and execution of special sales, events, trunk shows, etc., the Volunteer Coordinator regarding adjunct staffing requirements, Financial Operations on budgetary issues, and CEO on any other concerns or issues.
  • Align with, follow, and enforce GHHS policies and procedures as a leader within our organization.

Volunteer & Community Outreach Coordinator

Position Summary:  

Manages the GHHS Volunteer Program.  Develops and maintains volunteer guidelines, materials and procedures.  Supervises and coordinates GHHS volunteers for events that educate the public on the importance of our mission and teaches good animal care.  Values volunteers and works to make them feel wanted and appreciated.

Position:           Volunteer & Community Outreach Coordinator 

Reports to:       Director of Advancement                     

Compensation Category:  Hourly, part-time       

Pay Range:        $12.00 per hour and up

 

Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, motivates, trains, and supervises volunteers
  • Develops and maintains volunteer guidelines, materials, and procedures
  • Organizes and conducts volunteer orientation(s) including an overview of GHHS programs as well as policies and procedures
  • Pairs experienced volunteers with new volunteers as mentors
  • Schedules volunteers for work shifts: receptionists, dog walkers, socialization of animals, event volunteers, etc.
  • Coordinates with the Director of Animal Care and the Foster Coordinator to support the Foster Care Program
  • Works with staff to identify volunteer needs, projects, and duties
  • Develops volunteer job descriptions and ensures timely and accurate descriptions of it on the GHHS website
  • Utilizes appropriate software programs to record volunteer time and contact information
  • Provides monthly report of volunteer time and program statistics to CEO
  • Coordinates and recruits volunteer support for outreach programs like special events, fundraisers, public relations, and educational programs; responsible for King’s Community Kitchen, Pet Wellness Clinic and Lucky Dog humane education program
  • Over-sees and implements volunteer recognition, appreciation, and motivational activities
  • Understands the basic operations of the dog kennel/cat areas to train new volunteers
  • Resolve volunteer problems, reassign volunteers, or terminate volunteers if not appropriate for the organization or task at hand
  • Maintains awareness of industry standards and innovations through publications, attendance of seminars, contact with persons of equivalent positions in similar organizations and other educational opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

BS in relevant field preferred, with three-years of experience in conducting a volunteer program for non-profits.  Ability to develop and maintain relationships with lots of different people.  Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a fast paced environment with grace and good humor.  Good organizational skills and ability to be self-motivated.  Ability to train and develop team members, solve problems with good judgment and delegate responsibility.
